Adult & junior students come to the school on short-stays between April and November and stay in local homestays. By providing comfortable accommodation and an insight into British life, our hosts give students the opportunity to practise their English further.
Depending on the student age and time of year, we offer different rates for hosting. In July, hosts can earn over £950 by hosting two juniors for 14 nights (max 4 children per household). Hosting income is tax-free up to £10,000 p.a.
We work closely with our homestay providers to safeguard and promote the welfare of students of all ages while they are studying with us in Jersey.
Hosting with us
St Brelade’s College is a family-run school and we have been providing English courses to students from abroad since 1978. We are accredited by the British Council, which means we follow the latest criteria regarding the provision of English courses and accommodation. Our programmes are safe and structured and we provide clear guidelines and full support to our hosts.
Junior & adult students of different nationalities attend English language courses at St Brelade’s College for varying lengths of time. The majority come from European countries, with an average stay of one or two weeks. Our full programmes mean that hosts can work and host students at the same time.
Students often choose homestay in order to experience British life and interact in English. Our hosts provide a comfortable home environment for them. Individuals, couples, families, single parents and retired people all choose to host for different reasons; cultural interest, educating children in the family, financial benefits and new friendships.
